Welcome to Zêzere Arts for singers and musicians, for performers and for those who love to listen and experience live performance. Zêzere Arts runs a variety of exciting courses and events for singers and musicians alongside our flagship event, Zêzere Arts Festival of Opera, Song and Singing. Visitors are welcome to our festival where they can enjoy high quality music making, good food, weather, swimming, boating, walking and the peaceful pleasures of rural central Portugal near the stunning river Zêzere.
Zêzere Arts Festival of Opera, Song and Singing
This new festival takes the form of a Summer Course for singers with a real difference. It presents performances in the town and area of Ferreira do Zêzere in central Portugal during the first two weeks of August each year. The first festival took place in 2011 and was a great success. We look forward to building on that success in 2012. Opera, Oratorio, Song and Cabaret will be performed to local audiences throughout the region in an exciting programme which is being enthusiastically welcomed and supported by the Council of Ferreira do Zêzere and by local musicians. Zêzere Arts is also grateful to have the support of the Fundaçao Maria Dias Ferreira.
Singing Courses and Musical Retreats
Zêzere Arts plans to continue the tradition established by Irish Vocal Masterclasses of running courses for singers from a wide range of backgrounds. Professional singers, singing students, beginners, experienced amateurs and re-starters have all found IVM courses of value as can be seen from the many testimonials received over the years. Zêzere Arts will build on this experience to explore new educational ideas and opportunities in music. These will include the use of music and singing in personal development, leadership training and team-building.
Musical retreats will allow space for groups of musicians to gather in a relaxed environment to rehearse or study or simply find time to reinvigorate their musical souls and re-charge their creative batteries.
