Zêzerearts Strings Masterclasses 2017
Zêzerearts runs a masterclass for advanced string players and chamber ensembles under the guidance of Eliot Lawson and Luís Pacheco Cunha (violin), Jorge Alves (viola), Catherine Strynkx (cello) and Adriano Aguiar (double bass). Students will spend one or two weeks studying at an advanced level, playing chamber music and forming the nucleous of the Zêzere Arts Festival Orchestra.
We are delighted to be welcoming for the first time the Latvian virtuoso, Ilya Grubert, who will give two days of masterclasses for advanced conservatory level students.

Masterclasses in Violin, Viola, Cello and Double Bass
Masterclass for existing Chamber Ensembles including coaching, intensive rehearsal time and performance opportunities.
The orchestra and chamber ensembles will have the opportunity to perform throughout the Zêzerearts Festival. There will be opportunities for advanced players to study and perform concerto repertoire with orchestra in main festival events. There will also be performances of chamber music and string ensemble works with the whole event taking place in the exciting festival atmosphere that has become the ZêzereArts tradition.
Repertoire for the 2017 Festival will be announced shortly.
Some students may have the opportunity to study and performance solo repertoire with orchestra.
'Home' for your time here will be the charming, historic towns of Vila Nova da Barquinha and Tomar. The area is steeped in Knight's Templar history and is dominated by spectalcular scenery and buildings like Almourol Castle and the Convento de Cristo. Accomodation will be provided in Barquinha during week 1 and in the Convento de Cristo during week 2. This is a unique opportunity to experience these historic buildings not merely as tourist attractions but as living, working spaces.

Dates and Cost

Cost - €320 (one week) €380 (two weeks)
Fees include all tuition and full board. Transport to the festival not included.
Fees for local students who do not require accommodation or food are €240 (one week) and €280 (two weeks)
Fees for the Chamber Music option for existing groups (which may include piano) are €200 per player (one week) and €240 per player (two weeks)
Fees for students participating in masterclasses with Ilya Grubert are €600 (one week) and €700 (two weeks). These fees include full-board as well as lessons and chamber music coaching with our festival teaching staff following on from the two days of Grubert's masterclasses.
Players who are under 18 will need to provide a letter of permission from a parent or guardian and will be asked to pay a €10 insurance supplement.
